With the explosion of incoming talent in Wrestle: Coast Cascadia, combined with the sheer amount of talent we already had who were trolling around in the mid-card ranks, Darren Keebler made the decision to mint WC:C's first and only title that doesn't have a previous history or histories:

The Cascadia Independence Cup.

The first champion was decided on the Monday Night Massacre Pre-Show in a 10-Man Battle Royal where the title was put on the line just prior to the match in a surprise move by Keebler. The following is an excerpt from the Official WC:C Web Log (Blog) #3 which explains the division and the rules thereof:

QUOTE (Angus Skaaland)

At any given time there will be five men in the CIC division. They will be the champion and four men from the roster who are deemed worthy of making the next step up on the ladder of WC:C. Each of the challengers in the division will begin with zero points, with the idea being to score three points so as to earn the right to challenge the champion for his trophy. Points will be on the line at any time one of the division members is in a singles match, with one point being awarded for a victory, and one point being subtracted for a loss. Once a challenger reaches three points he will be awarded a title shot on the next edition of WC:C Television, with the loser of the title match automatically being put back to zero points. The only way to be bumped out of the division is to have two losses from zero points, and the only way to get into the division is to be the most deserving wrestler when someone is knocked off.
